The Perry Lions Club did their semi-annual roadside cleanup along Iowa Highway 141 Monday, picking up an estimated 800 pounds of trash between F Avenue and the Dawson Corner.

The Perry Lions were assisted by Lion Allen Zobel from the Exira Lions Club. Zobel is the District Iowa Lions Club Foundation Trustee. Also assisting the local Lions was Rhonda Volz, wife of Perry Lion Doug Volz, who acted as supply driver that afternoon.

Zobel also spoke to the Perry Lions during the club’s regular meeting. He described the many activities of the Lions Foundation, providing charitable relief to people in need, including a large donation given to the Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston, Texas.

Other Lions Club activities include the Leader Dog Program, hearing aids, eyeglasses and helping to fight many diseases.

Perry Lions Club President John Andorf, left, welcomed District Iowa Lions Club Foundation Trustee Allen Zobel to a recent meeting.
