The members of the Perry Lions Club assembled at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and F Avenue west of Perry Monday, Sept. 22, and walked covered two miles of ditches in their semi-annual roadside cleanup project that they call, “Walk the Ditch.”

Working their way eastward, the 11-person crew of Lions found less debris than during their last cleanup in April. They estimated that only about 150 pounds of trash was recovered.

As usual, some interesting items were picked up, including a large piece of broken farm machine equipment, a closet door, a black-lace bra and several empty bottles of Black Velvet whiskey.

The Perry Lions Club encourages motorists not to litter roadways.
