A Perry man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a Perry woman at the Dallas County Hospital.
Ben Aieses Ramirez, 20, of 2665 Summer Meadows Dr., Perry, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dallas County Hospital, where an officer of the Perry Police Department witnessed an assault and intervened to prevent further violence.
According to court records, in the course of an investigation, Ramirez allegedly “lunged towards” the victim at the Dallas County Hospital and “attempted to rip her purse off of her lap, causing a discernible red mark to” the victim’s “right forearm and pulling her up from her seated position,” according to court records.
An officer intervened and arrested Ramirez, was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 9 in Dallas County District Court.
