
A Perry man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly assaulting a Perry woman in the home.
Johnathan Cody Brown, 38, of 1710 Fourth St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and child endangerment.
The incident began about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 2700 block of Charles Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the adult victim, who told the officers than Brown allegedly “hit her, slammed her into the couch, threw her on the ground, slammed her into the kitchen table more than once and continued to hit her,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “cuts and scratches on her arms” and a “bruise and swelling around her face,” according to court records.
An 11-year-old victim who witnessed the incident struck Brown “in the back with a bat to defend his mother,” according to court records.
Brown is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $4,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 30 in Dallas County District Court.
Brown was convicted of assault causing bodily injury and child endangerment in 2011 in Dallas County District Court.
