Perry man allegedly goes on Sunday evening rampage

Jordan Davontay Todd, 30, of Perry, was arrested Sunday on charges of two counts of first-degree harassment, public intoxication, disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior, child endangerment, attempted second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and two counts of interference with official acts.

A Perry man was arrested Sunday on multiple charges, including harassment, child endangerment and resisting arrest.

Jordan Davontay Todd, 30, of  2811 Warford St., Perry, was charged with two counts of first-degree harassment, public intoxication, disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior, child endangerment, attempted second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and two counts of interference with official acts.

The incident began about 6:15 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 2800 block of Warford Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a man trying to break into a residence.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Todd allegedly “climbed onto his apartment balcony” and tried “to break the window and break inside,” according to court records.

The victim had video footage that showed Todd trying “to get inside” the victim’s residence “while yelling and screaming in an aggressive manner,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with Todd, who was “naked in the apartment complex hallway, yelling and screaming,” according to court records.

Todd was allegedly “combative” with the officers and tried to “actively resist” his detainment, according to court records.

An 8-year-old child was a witness to the incident.

In transit to the Dallas County Jail, Todd allegedly “broke the in-car cabin camera ending the video footage of the cabin,” according to court records. The loss of the camera to the Perry Police Department is estimated at $6,750.

During transport Todd also allegedly continued “screaming and yelling that he was going to kill” the victim “by strangulation,” according to court records.

Todd is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $12,000 cash or surety bond, He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 16 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
