Perry man allegedly resists arrest after fleeing bar

Marco Francis Roeder, 27, of Perry was arrested Sunday on charges of assault-place in fear of contact, five counts of interference with official acts, disorderly conduct-fighting/violent behavior, third-degree criminal mischief and public intoxication.

A Perry man was arrested Sunday after injuring two police officers while allegedly resisting arrest.

Marco Francis Roeder, 27, of 1517 Willis Ave., Perry, was charged with assault-place in fear of contact, five counts of interference with official acts, disorderly conduct-fighting/violent behavior, third-degree criminal mischief and public intoxication.

The incident began about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at a tavern in the 1000 block of Second Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a someone “picking fights with patrons,” according to court records.

When officers arrived, Roeder “took off on foot, running towards Fareway,” according to court records. An officer made contact with Roeder in the 1500 block of Willis Avenue, where a “physical altercation” occurred, and the officer “assisted” Roeder “to the ground multiple times.”

Roeder allegedly “continued to resist and started kicking” at officers after he was on the ground and his wrists were restrained behind his back. He allegedly resisted being placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle and was later “escorted to a chair to be restrained” at the Dallas County Jail, where he “continued to be combative and not comply,” according to court records.

One officer “sustained minor cuts and a jammed finger” in the encounter, and another “sustained minor cuts” and “other minor injuries” to his arms and right knee, according to court records.

Roeder is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $15,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Roeder was convicted of assault and first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2016 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault on persons in certain occupations in 2021 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense vicious dog in July 2021 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of interference with official acts in 2022 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of third-offense vicious dog in January 2022 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of fourth-offense vicious dog in May 2022 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
