A Perry man was arrested on a warrant Wednesday in connection with an October incident, captured on video, in which he allegedly assaulted his wife in their home.
Jereme Messner, 37, of 1911 Fifth St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.
The incident began Nov. 2, when an officer of the Perry Police Department reviewed video footage recorded Oct. 30 at a residence in the 1900 block of Fifth Street.
In the video, Messner is seen allegedly “cornering” the victim “against the kitchen counter in their residence” and “grabbing” the victim “by the collar of her jacket/shirt and lifting her partially of the ground,” according to court records.
Messner then allegedly “shook” the victim and “shoved her to the side,” according to court records.
In an audio recording of a phone conversation between Messner and a minor female that occurred after the alleged assault, Messner “is heard telling his daughter he never assaulted” the victim.
Messner is heard telling the minor that “if he were to go to jail for the incident,” the victim “would get her ass whooped without mercy and that he is done playing games,” according to court records.
A warrant for Messner’s arrest was ordered Nov. 4 in Dallas County District Court and served Wednesday. Messner is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $500 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Dec. 29 in Dallas County District Court.
Messner was convicted of domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2010 in Story County District Court.
