Trayon Louis-Allen Nash, 34, of Perry was arrested Thursday on charges of assault-fear of immediate contact, assault-insulting or offensive contact and obstruction of emergency communication.

A Perry man was arrested at the Perry Elementary School Thursday morning after he allegedly tried forcefully to wrest his child from school staff members.

Trayon Louis-Allen Nash, 34, of 717 Fifth St., Perry, was charged with assault-fear of immediate contact, assault-insulting or offensive contact and obstruction of emergency communication.

The incident began shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday at the Perry Elementary School, where officers of the Perry Police Department became aware that Nash was allegedly “refusing to listen to Perry Elementary School staff” and was “entering areas” in the school where he was “prohibited” in “an attempt to get to his child,” according to court records.

Nash allegedly “lunged” toward one female victim and “shoved the upper right arm” of a second female victim as he “attempted to get to his child” away from the staff members “while the children were being escorted to the office area,” according to court records.

One of the victims told the officers that she “felt fearful for my safety and the safety of the child” during Nash’s alleged assault, according to court records.

Earlier Thursday morning, Nash allegedly “took the phone” away from a third female victim when she tried to call 911. Nash later called the Perry Police Department using the victim’s phone, and he refused to surrender the victim’s phone to police, according to court records.

Nash is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $300 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Oct. 25 in Dallas County District Court.

Nash was arrested in Perry on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2021 and later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct in Dallas County District Court.
