A Perry man was arrested Thursday after allegedly striking a woman in the face in the course of a domestic dispute.
Luis Japa Arratea, 38, of 2602 Marengo Dr., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 8:45 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of Marengo Drive, where officers of the Perry Police Department arrived to find “an emotionally heightened female crying,” according to court records.
The victim told the officers that she and Arratea “were in her vehicle talking,” when Arratea “struck her,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “bruises on her thighs as well as a red mark across her left cheek,” according to court records.
Arratea was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 14 in Dallas County District Court.
