A Perry man was arrested early Friday after he allegedly repeatedly struck a Perry woman in the home.

Nazir Coffie, 23, of 700 18th St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 7:45 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of 18th Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made context with the victim, who told the officers that during the course of a domestic dispute, Coffie began “slapping her left arm” and did so “hard and repeatedly,” according to court records.

The officers observed the victim’s “left arm bicep area to be very red and blotchy,” according to court records.

Coffie is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 25 in Dallas County District Court.
