A Perry man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Monday in connection with an April incident in which he allegedly threatened to “shoot up” a Perry residence.

Lamar Steven Bryant, 49, of 2514 Perry Park Ave., Perry, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant for first-degree harassment, fugitive from justice and failure to appear on an original charge of attempted murder.

The incident occurred April 12 outside a residence in the 700 block of 26th Street in Perry, where Bryant allegedly was “pounding” on the door and yelling that he was “going to shoot up this room,” according to court records.

Officers of the Perry Police Department responded and made contact with the victim, who told the officers that she “was in fear for her life,” according to court records. Witnesses confirmed the victim’s claims.

A warrant for Bryant’s arrest was ordered April 14 in Dallas County District Court and served July 2. A record search indicated that Bryant was also a fugitive from justice from the state of Florida.

Bryant is held in the Dallas County Jail without bond. He is scheduled for an extradition hearing July 12 in Dallas County District Court.

Bryant is a registered sex offender in Florida, according to court records. He was convicted of sexual battery against a victim under the age of 12 in 1992 in Orange County District Court in Florida.
