Perry man charged with assault following domestic dispute

Hector Guillermo Castaneda Rojas, 49, of Perry was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Perry man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly injuring a Perry woman in the course of a domestic dispute.

Hector Guillermo Castaneda Rojas, 49, of 2801 First Ave., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of First Avenue, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Castaneda Rojas allegedly “repeatedly kept hitting” the victim and “shoved her against a counter top,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a scratch mark” on her “right elbow and a small cut on the top of” her “right hand,” according to court records.

The officers also observed “a sharp piece sticking out from the counter top,” where the victim said Castaneda Rojas allegedly “cut her arm,” according to court records.

A child witness confirmed the victim’s claims, according to court records.

Castaneda Rojas is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 2 in Dallas County District Court.
