Perry man lands in jail after drunken spree Wednesday

Patrick Dwayne Moore, 38, of Perry was arrested Wednesday on charges of public intoxication, assault on persons in certain occupations, third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

A Perry man was arrested early Wednesday after getting liquored up and causing a ruckus in a downtown Perry tavern.

Patrick Dwayne Moore, 38, of 1415 Otley Ave., Perry, was charged with public intoxication, assault on persons in certain occupations, third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

The incident began shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday at a public house in the 1000 block of Second Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance.

A 911 caller said Moore was “acting very hostile” and “screaming and threatening” people in the tavern, and he allegedly “destroyed the front window and front door,” according to court records.

When the officers entered the tavern, Moore allegedly “started to assault” one of the officers, according to court records.  The other officer “utilized his taser” on Moore in order to “gain compliance,” and he was placed him in handcuffs.

Moore “actively physically resisted getting in” the patrol vehicle and “again resisted getting
out of the patrol vehicle” at the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave., according to court records.

A preliminary breath test returned a breath alcohol content of .299, according to court records.

A search of Moore’s person disclosed a quantity of marijuana, according to court records.

Moore is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 3 in Dallas County District Court.

Moore was convicted of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana in 2013 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana in 2016 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2019 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2020 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2021 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of fifth-degree criminal mischief in 2021 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of public intoxication in 2019, 2021 and 2023 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
