Perry Mayor John Andorf praised the numerous construction projects ongoing in Perry this year when he addressed the Perry City Council at Monday night’s meeting.

“When driving around town and walking my dog round town, it’s really great to see so many projects going on,” Andorf said. “There’s a couple of industries and the downtown and some people renovating houses and some people and companies building houses — there’s just so much going on right now. It’s really great to see. As the year’s gone on, I think, things have really picked up. Hopefully, it will continue, and I don’t think there’s any reason to believe it won’t.”

The mayor himself is contributing to the town’s growth by building a new house at 1822 16th St., and the council — as if to prove Andorf’s point — approved 10 applications for projects in the city’s property tax abatement program at Monday’s meeting, with another 10 applications in the 2021 pipeline for approval.
