Two Perry men were arrested on Dallas County warrants Wednesday in connection with a July 2023 incident in which they allegedly sexually assaulted an Ankeny woman in Perry.
Alejandro Rios, 22, of Perry was arrested on a warrant for second-degree sexual abuse, first-degree harassment and invasion of privacy.
Moses Tellez, 23, of Perry was arrested on a warrant for second-degree sexual abuse, first-degree harassment and invasion of privacy.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 25, 2023. According to court records, Rios and Tellez allegedly video recorded their rape of the “highly intoxicated” victim and then shared the video recording with their friends on social media.
Analysis conducted by the Iowa Department of Public Safety DCI Criminalistics Laboratory confirmed the presence of the suspects’ DNA ” on the samples provided to the lab via the victim’s sexual assault kit,” according to court records.
Rios is held without bond in the Dallas County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 12 in Dallas County District Court.
Rios was convicted of assault with intent to inflict serious injury in 2021 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2024 in Dallas County District Court.
Tellez is held without bond in the Dallas County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 12 in Dallas County District Court.
