Three groups of Perry Middle School sixth grade students made a circuit tour Friday of the Perry Police Department, Perry Fire Department and Perry Water Pollution Control Facility.

Each 25-student group spent about 30 minutes at each stop, inspecting equipment and asking questions of Perry Police Sgt. Jim Archer, Perry Assistant Fire Chief Kevin McLaughlin and Perry Water Pollution Control Facility Director Dave Gliem and Assistant Director Jimmy Kezar.

Attracting special attention were the police car, with its dense array of electronic communication equipment, the ladder truck, hauling 1,500 gallons of water and firefighting gear, and the aeration basins and clarifiers, converting wastewater step by step to effluent.
