April 27, 2018

  • A caller said he was “with MidAmerican Energy conducting a survey,” and “his coworker passed out” and “is unconscious.” The caller then said his coworker “is conscious now.” Officers responded and the Perry First Responders were paged.
  • A caller said he “found a suspicious bag.” An officer responded, and the item was “picked up and logged into evidence.”
  • A caller said her “13-year-old daughter got bit at about 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. yesterday on her way home from the library.” The caller said the girl “got bit on the back of her leg.” The caller was “not sure what type of dog, just that it was small.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “located grafitti at the dog park and the bike trail,” reading “‘South Side’ and ‘Sur13’ in blue and white colors.”
  • A caller said his dog was lost.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large and “antagonizing neighborhood dogs.” Officers were advised but were “busy on a priority call” and “unable to respond.”
  • A juvenile was arrested on a juvenile detention order.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. “to speak with an officer about a possible protection-order violation.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “there is someone knocking at his door,” and the caller “wanted it to stop.” An officer responded and “found no one in the area.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said “he believes he saw a car trying to run over someone.” An officer responded but found the area vacant.
  • A caller asked to speak with an officer “about harassment.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “asked if it was legal for his neighbor to be recording him in his property.” An officer responded.

April 28, 2018

  • A caller reported “the neighbor’s dog is outside, barking for hours.” An officer responded “but was not able to get anyone to answer the door.”
  • A caller said “there was a knock on her back door.” An officer responded but did not find anyone in the area.
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department provided a funeral escort.
  • A caller said “there is a cat in her yard, and it sounds very sick.” An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a prescription drug drop-off event.
  • A caller said “her neighbors have been fighting for hours, and now they are outside pushing and screaming.” Officers responded and determined the argument was verbal only. An officer “explained the domestic abuse laws in the state of Iowa since both were from Illinois.”
  • A caller reported “that she believes someone took her coat.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a “car partially blocking his driveway.” An officer responded and determined the vehicle “was legally parked and not blocking any driveway.”
  • A caller said she “caught kids who live next door throwing rocks at a vacant house across the street that is being remodelled.” The caller said “her husband hollered at the kids, which upset the kids’ parents.” An officer responded and made contact with the caller and the grandmother of the rock-throwing children, and “it was evident they did not get along with each other. Both parties were told if they have issues with each other in the future, they needed to call the police department and allow an officer to mediate the situation.”

April 29, 2018

  • A caller said “she just got home and saw someone walking behind her residence.” Officers responded but did not find anyone in the area.
  • A caller reported “a red SUV that has its windows broken out of it at the Pattee Park parking lot by the big shelter,” and he “believes the vehicle is abandoned.”
  • A caller reported the pay mechanism at “the scale weighing area” on west Willis Avenue “looked like it had been messed with,” as if “someone was trying to break in.” An officer responded and determined the mechanism “appeared to have damage on it from another semi driving through and damaging it.”
  • A caller reported a “cat had gotten hit by a car.” An officer responded, and the “cat was taken to the waste treatment plant.”
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller reported “yelling going on at” a nearby residence. Officers responded and found a couple who “said they were only arguing about the living situation and about the relationship.” The couple “agreed to calm down and talk later.”
  • A caller reported “a possible domestic disturbance.” The caller said he “drove by the residence about three times today,” and “a man and a woman have been hollering at each other every time.” An officer responded and found “all quiet.”
  • A man entered the offices  of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he sold a vehicle privately to a party who “wrote a check for $17,000 and took possession of the vehicle.” The man said “he has since learned the check was written on a closed account.” An officer responded.
  • A caller at a local retail store reported a gas drive off in the amount of $15.24. An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
