  • Phelan John Hudson, 29, 645 S.E. Ewing St., Grimes, was arrested on charges of third-offense driving while barred and driving under suspension.
  • A 16-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of public intoxication and issued a citation for first-offense curfew violation.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and asked to speak with an officer “about his options.” The man said a Perry business was “supposed to change the engine on his wife’s car,” but “it took them about five months to finally get the work done.” The man said that “after one month, he had paid $650 for the engine and to do the work. Now that all the work is done, he is being charged an additional $1,500.” The man said he “wanted to know what he can do.” An officer responded and advisedthe man “to contact an attorney for advice as well as contact the Better Business Bureau.”
  • A caller “reported hazy smoke coming from the bottom level of the apartment after the power was restored to the building.” The caller said “he can smell some smoke but does not see fire.” An officer responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. Officers responded and transported the animals to the Perry Animal Holding facility.
  • A caller said “the vehicle involved in the BB gun shootings was spotted at” a local retail store. An officer responded.
  • A caller from Jefferson said she “only has 12 hours of charge left on her” heart pump, which “continuously pumps the left side of her heart, and without the charge she will die.” The caller said “she also needs her medications, which she hasn’t taken for two days now.” The caller said “the only other place she can get this would be from Mercy, who advised her to contact law enforcement.” The “information was given to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.”
  • A caller from outside the city limits of Perry said “his daughter’s ex-boyfriend texted her he was on his way,”and “they do not want him there, and he has some stalker tendencies.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified. The caller called again and said the ex-boyfriend “was at the house.” Officers responded, made contact with the ex-boyfriend and explained that “if he is told he is not allowed by her, then he cannot come back until he is given permission to come back.” The officers “spoke with the daughter and informed her she could pursue a no-contact order if needed if it continues or gets worse.”
  • A caller from a local restaurant said “they had customers who were cursing and refusing to move from the drive-through line.” The caller said “they got angry due to the wait and the fact that the lobby was closed.” Officers responded, made contact with the cursing customers and “advised them to leave the area.”
  • A caller said “his door was frozen, and he needed to go to work.” Officers responded and assisted the caller “with getting his door open.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department assisted a motorist “with pushing the vehicle out” of a snow drift.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
