  • A caller from Ottumwa said someone “was taken to the ER last night,” and “he is going to be in the hospital for a while.” The caller said the ill person “has a dog and a cat” and asked whether “an officer could respond to the residence and take the animals to the Humane Society.” An officer responded and old the caller “that is something the Humane Society could do but was not something we would do.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. Officers responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller from Altoona asked whether “an officer could go check” a local motel “to see if her vehicle was there.” The caller said “she reported it stolen today.” Officers responded but did not find the vehicle. The caller was informed.
  • A caller said “someone had broken a window into the vehicle.” The caller said “he had gotten home from work and found it like that.” An officer responded.
  • The Humane Society of Perry called and said permission was granted for “the rights over a boxer and a cat to be given to the pound.” Officers responded and transported the animals to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “noticed an altercation between” two people. The officer “spoke to both of them and resolved that” the one person “would stay on one side of the residence” and the second person “would stay on the other side, and they would not speak to each other for the rest of the night.” The officer “confiscated the pepper spray that” the one person “had in his pocket for both of their safety since” the one person said the second person “used it on him earlier.” The second person said the one person “was coming at him so she sprayed him with it.” Both persons said “there would be no more issues.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
