- A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “found a dog wandering” but “was not able to catch it.”
- A caller said he “hit a stop sign at Tyson’s.” Officers responded, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
- A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department observed “a lot of smoke coming from the garage” at a residence. The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged. Officers “were able to make contact with the resident, who advised it was a woodburning stove.” The fire department was told to disregard the page.
- A caller said “she bought a van from” a local dealer and “did not know they were salvage and did not know what that meant.” The caller said “she paid half on the vehicle and wanted to return the vehicle and get her money back minus a restocking fee.” The caller said the dealer told her “he was not going to give her the money back. He agreed to fix whatever was wrong on the vehicle or take the money she put down on that vehicle and apply it toward another one.” The caller said “they came to an agreement.”
- A caller said “the neighbor’s dog has been out all night barking.” The caller said he was concerned the neighbor “may have forgotten the dog outside.” An officer responded and “helped the neighbor get his dog back in the house.”
- A caller said “he had a thermostat replaced” at a local repair shop, “and the vehicle was smoking on his way to work today.” The caller also said “that items were taken out of his vehicle.” An officer responded.
- A caller said the neighbors were “letting their small, white dog run loose.” An officer responded but did not find the dog.
- A caller said “she left her wallet” at a local retail store “last night,” and “she realized she left it and went back, but it wasn’t there.” The caller said someone “brought her wallet back to her” today, and it was missing cash and two cards. An officer responded.
- Cheryl Gates of Perry was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.
- A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
- A caller said someone “didn’t want to go to the hospital, so he ran off.” Officers responded and a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff responded and made contact with the runaway, who was transported to the Dallas County Hospital.
- A caller said her dog was lost. The caller called again and said her dog was found.
- A caller requested a welfare check on someone who “just called her, crying that her significant other hit her.” Officers responded and made contact with the victim, who said “it was a verbal-only argument over her finding texts between Jose and his ex.” The officers found “no evidence of injuries or a physical altercation.”
- A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order to “request an officer speak to her small daughter about the consequences of stealing.” An officer responded and “spoke with the 5-year-old girl about taking things that do not belong to her.”
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
