  • A 13-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A caller said “she took her 16-month-old child to the doctor this morning for a lump on her head and a cut on her forehead.” The caller said her “ex-boyfriend” and “his new girlfriend” had “her child over the weekend,” and the caller “believes her child is being abused while in the father’s care in Jefferson.” An officer responded and directed the caller to “make contact with the Iowa Department of Human Services, take her child to Blank Children’s Hospital and to make contact with the Jefferson Police Department.”
  • A caller said “his Ebay account was hacked.” An officer responded and advised the caller to “make Ebay aware of the change of default address and to speak with Ebay about the scam.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility.
  • A caller requested a welfare check on “a woman sitting at the dog park with two suitcases.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “she just found a bottle containing gasoline in her residence.” The caller said The caller said someone she has “been having problems with has threatened to burn her house down in the past.” The caller said “ever since she declined his marriage proposal, she has had issues.” An officer responded and discussed “options,” such as “ceasing communications, blocking his number” and “attempting an application for a no-contact order.”
  • A caller said her neighbors “moved out about a week ago,” and now “they are back at the residence and found the residence has been vandalized.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a tire in the roadway of Iowa Highway 141 near the interchange with U.S. Highway 169. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a car key she found in the park. An officer responded, and the item was “logged into evidence.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said a patient being held on a “committal” order was “attempting to leave.” Officers responded and “stood by till a deputy arrived for transport.”
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large and “will bring the dog to the police department.” Soon afterward, someone “with the humane society came to the police department regarding the large number of dogs at the pound.” Someone “took possession of the dog.”
  • A caller said someone “had stolen his tools last year after he did some work for him,” and now someone was “riding his bicycle early in the morning by his house and in the alley.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said three people “were walking around with flashlights.” Officers responded and made contact with the people, who said they “had permission from the homeowner to be there” and were “collecting wire and some old computers from the home.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
