
SAYDEL — Perry posted a 3-1 match record Monday to depart Saydel with first place the Eagle Invite.
Perry (7-16) opened with a 21-11, 21-19 win over West Central Valley, but Des Moines Hoover stopped the Jayettes, 14-21, 22-20, 15-13, in the second set of matches at the event.
The Jayettes responded by taking down Des Moines North, 21-10, 21-12, then bested Clarke, 21-19, 17-21, and 15-8 to claim top honors.
Perry served at 89 percent accuracy (166-of-187) at the tourney, with the team having a combined 30 ace serves.
Ashley Cerna was 29-32-10, Taylor Atwell 23-24-3, and Peyton Tunink 21-22-2 behind the line. Kathryn West served 17-21-3 and Addison Huntington 16-18-3, with Kimberly Castillo 3-5-1.
Tunink led the offense with 25 kills. Cerna had 21 kills and West 11, with Callie Steva having six kills, Atwell four and Castillo three.
Atwell’s 56 assists was a team-high, with Cerna and Huntington each having three while Steva had two assists and Tunink, Castillo and Valeria Contreras one apiece.
Dig leaders included Atwell (24), Cerna (23), and Huntington (21), with Tunink providing 18 digs, Contreras 14, West 10, Castillo seven, and Steva six.
Perry visits PCM tonight before hosting Greene County Oct. 5 in a pair of HOIC contests.
