The Perry schools will have a two-hour late start on Thursday, Feb. 13, Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks announced Wednesday evening.
The will be no morning preschool, Wicks said, and PACES will begin at 8 a.m.
St. Patrick Catholic School will also start two hours late, Principal Kandice Pattillo announced.
The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a cold weather advisory in effect from midnight until 9 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills temperatures of 20 to 30 below zero expected.
The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as few as 10 minutes. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves when venturing outside, the NWS said.
