Emma Olejniczak needed little help Wednesday, but her teammates made sure she received plenty as Perry thumped Bondurant-Farrar, 9-0, in Raccoon River Conference softball at the PAC.
Olejniczak pitched a two-hit shutout, walking none and striking out 12 along the way. The 12 “k’s” give her 318 for the season in 193-1/3 innings pitched, during which she has issued only 31 walks. Last season she fanned 315 and walked 74 in 224-2/3 frames. She is now four strikeouts shy of 1,200 for her career.
Perry (24-9, 8-5) gave their ace plenty of room for error in the first inning by scoring three times. Two runs crossed the dish in the second frame and three more in the third, with the final Jayette run added in the fifth.
Adriana Eastman had a single and a double for the hosts, with Gabby West and Olejniczak both 2-for-3 at the plate while Sid Vancil was 2-for-4. Brooke Huntington and Maddie West added base hits to help spark the attack.
Olejniczak, Huntington, Maddie West and Rachel Kinney were honored before the game as part of Senior Night festivities.
Perry, ranked seventh in 4A, faces No. 5 Ballard tonight before concluding the regular season by hosting Pella Monday.
