The Perry 18U spring softball team hosted a four-team classic at Pattee Park Sunday, with the Jayettes finishing the day with a 2-1 mark.

The Jayettes began play by suffering a 4-1 loss to Atlantic, but quickly bounced back to shellack Manly, 12-0. A 2-0 win over team Firecrackers (composed of CMB and Colfax-Mingo players) followed as the hosts claimed two of three event.
In other games, Firecrackers blanked Manly, 12-0, with Atlantic defeating Firecrackers, 4-1. No score was available for the Atlantic vs. Manly contest.
Monday will be the first official day of practice for the Jayette high school softball team, which opens the 2015 season at North Polk May 26 and at Winterset May 27. Perry will host Norwalk May 29 in their home opener.
Perry was 18-12-1 overall last summer and 6-7-1 in the always-tough Raccoon River Conference. The Jayettes ended in the second-round of the playoffs playoffs with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to eventual state champion DC-G.
