Last week a group of donors — Minburn Communications, Aureon, Guthrie County REC and the Iowa Area Development Group Foundation — made a collective donation of $6,000 to the Perry Strong Community Fund, newly established to provide flexible funding specifically tailored to meet the needs of Perry students and community.

In a statement, the donors said that the Perry Strong Community Fund was created in response to the tragic event that took place at Perry High School in January, with Perry Economic Development Inc. joining with its local utility partners to support those impacted with project funding support during this challenging time for the youth in Perry.

“We are grateful to announce four generous grants totaling $6,000 from Minburn Communications, Aureon, Guthrie County REC and the Iowa Area Development Group Foundation to help launch the Perry Strong Community Fund,” said Jeff Huitt, president of Perry Economic Development  Inc. “These grants, alongside matching donations from other local partners, will provide recourse to initiate and support this important effort.”

Huitt said the seed funding from the contributors will play a key role in encouraging further philanthropic support for school betterment projects. Projects supported by the Perry Strong Community Fund will focus on protecting students, fostering a positive school environment and strengthening the rural community, he said.

Joining Huitt in celebrating the donation to the Perry Strong Community Fund were, Iowa Area Development Group/VP Ripple Effect Ethan Pitt, PEDI board member Jackson VanKirk, Minburn Communications CEO/GM and PEDI board member Debra Lucht, Aureon Chief Experience Officer Carey Stover, Iowa Area Development Group President and CEO Bruce Nuzum and PEDI board member Kyle Baxter.
