ATLANTIC — In a season of repeated improvements and strong results, Tuesday’s visit to Atlantic for a triple-dual that included Spencer will likely serve as an outlier.
Atlantic edged Spencer, 78-67, in their head-to-head meeting. The Trojans were easy 99-18 winners over Perry, with the Tigers posting a 110-19 victory against the Jayettes. Perry’s lone first place finish came from Haley Vaughn, who was first against Spencer and third against Atlantic in the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 29.61 seconds.
The foursome of Haley and Sarah Vaughn, Avery Miner and Breanna Penenger were second to Atlantic in the 200 free relay in 2:22.95, with Sarah Vaughn, Miner, Penenger and Dannah Karolus second to both foes in the 400 free relay (4:35.69) while Anna Ridnour, Karolus and both Vaughn sisters third against both opponents in the 200 free relay (1:58.4).
Karolus was 3-3 in the 50 free (29.97) and 100 free (1:07.58) with Peneger 3-2 (against Atlantic/Spencer) in the 200 free (2:19.1) and 2-2 in the 500 free (6:14.12).
Haley Vaughn was 3-3 in the 100 backstroke (1:11.06), with Ridnour 2-3 in the 100 breaststroke (1:29.85). Perry did not compete in the 100 butterfly.
Swimming for the Jayettes, but not placing, were Ridnour (200 free, 2:36.73), Miner (50 free, 33.8 and 100 free, 1:13.68) and Sarah Vaughn (100 back, 1:16.91).
Perry will join Algona for a triple-dual with host Carroll Monday in their final regular season meet.
