Storm Lake visited Perry for the first time Tuesday, with the Tornadoes twisting their way to wins of 84-55 over Perry and of 96-45 over Algona. Perry topped Algona for the third time this season, winning 81-60.

The format called for each school to have one or two entries in each race, with each school scored separately against each of their opponents.

Freshman Jaylene Karolus topped both foes with a wining time of 1 minute, 12.97 seconds in the 100 butterfly. She was first against Algona and third, by .1 seconds, to Storm Lake in the 100 backstroke. Karolus finished in 1:11.91, with Storm Lake junior Kennedy Tate and senior Alli Graff tying for first in 1:11.81. Both times for Karolus were personal bests.

Junior Dannah Karolus also had a personal best after finishing 1/1 in the 200 freestyle in 2:17.7. Anna Ridnour was 2/3 (vs. Storm Lake/Algona) in the event by touching in 2:25.66.

Sarah Vaughn was 1/1 in the 200 IM in 2:45.6 in her inaugural high school swim in the discipline. Vaughn, a junior, was 2/1 in the 500 free in 6:31.32.

Dannah Karolus was 2/1 in the 100 free in 1:02.79, with Abby Herman 3/2, in 29.41, and Amanda Holwegner third to Algona, in 30.79, in the 50 free. Ridnour was 3/1 in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.39, with Holwegner second to Algona in 1:29.85.

Perry was 3/1 in the 200 medley relay in 2:22.21, with Vaughn, Ridnour, Herman and Jaylene Karolus competing for the Jayettes, with the quartet of Herman, Holwegner, Ridnour and Dannah Karolus placing 2/1 in the 200 free relay in 2:00.78.

Herman, Vaughn and the Karolus sisters teamed to beat both opposing teams in the 400 free relay, besting Storm Lake, 4:19.38 to 4:20.39 by cutting more than two seconds off their season-best time. Algona finished in 4:36.65.

Perry returns to action Tuesday with a trip to Ames for a meet that will start at 5 p.m. Perry will then host Fort Dodge, September 20, in a meet beginning at 6:30 p.m.
