Thursday’s “Think Pink” cancer awareness swim meet featured Perry hosting Des Moines North and Des Moines Hoover for a triple-dual. Perry topped North, 53-39, but was edged by Hoover, 49-44, with Hoover handing North a 53-41 setback.

Breanna Penenger was twice a double-winner for Perry as she defeated both North and Hoover in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 20.4 seconds before besting both opponents in the 500 free with a clocking of 6:08.23. Anna Ridnour followed Penenger in the 200, placing second to both foes in 2:30.75.

Dannah Karolus were first against both opponents in the 50 free in 29.66, with Avery Miner double-third in 32.57. The pair were joined by Penenger and Sarah Vaughn in scoring a double win with a clocking of 4:36.5 in the 400 free relay.

Ridnour was 2-1 (second to Hoover, first to North) in the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.7, with Haley Vaughn 2-1 in the 100 backstroke in 1:11.95.

Haley Vaughn’s 2:30.88 was 2-1 in the 200 individual medley, with Sarah Vaughn 2-1 in the 100 butterfly in 1:21.13 while Karolus was 2-2 and Miner 3-3 in the 100 free in 1:06.99 and 1:09.91, respectively.

The Vaughn sisters teamed with Penenger and Miner to place 2-1 in the 200 medley relay in 2:20.83, with Karolus, Ridnour and both Vaughn girls posting a 2-1 time of 2:00.45 in the 200 free relay.

Perry will return to competition when they visit Atlantic for a rare Tuesday night meet Oct. 11. They will then join Algona and a triple-dual at Carroll Oct. 18.
