Perry swimmers take shortened roster to Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE — The Perry girls swim team had only five racers available for action Thursday, and while the team points were not as expected, head coach Jean Dowd said she was proud of the effort her revamped lineup produced.

Fort Dodge topped Perry, 109-30, and Algona, 107-49, in the double dual, in which each team is scored separately against each foe. Algona was a 74-50 winner against Perry.

Jenna Nelson was 2-1 (second to Ft. Dodge, first to Algona) in the 200 freestyle, with Emily Dowd 4-2 in the race. Nelson finished in 2 minutes, 25.33 seconds, with Dowd touching in a personal-best clocking of 2:32.79.

Zoe Hibbert was 1-1 in the 50 free in 28.08 with Hailey Peterson 4-3 in 40.37 whiel Nelson was 3-1 in the 100 free in 1:08.29.

Lily Riley placed 2-1 in the 500 free in 6:20.06, with Dowd 3-3 in the 100 backstroke in 1:25.21.

The foursome of Dowd, Nelson, Peterson, and Riley finished 3-1 in the 200 free relay in 2:45.49, with Dowd, Nelson, Riley and Hibbert 2-1 in the 400 free relay in 4:31.33.

The Jayettes did not compete in the 200 medley relay, and left the 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, and 200 IM uncontested.

Perry will return to action Tuesday when familiar foe Algona visits the McCreary Community Building Pool. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m.
