A Perry woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting her mother in the course of a domestic dispute.

Holly Leann Simmons, 53, of 2110 Third St., Perry, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Third Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Simmons “started hitting her,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a cut on her hand,” and they “could see blood on her shirt and on her pants,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with Simmons, who told the officers that “her mother hit her in the face, and then she hit her back in the face,” according to court records.

Simmons is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 18 in Dallas County District Court.
