A Perry woman faces assault charges after allegedly punching her mother in the face.

Monica Lynn Goering, 34, of 2811 Warford St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.

The incident began Feb. 21, when officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 2100 block of Warford Street.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers “that she had been hit in the face by” Goering “with a closed fist,” according to court records.

Officers observed on the victim “a red mark just under her right eye,” according to court records.

Goering denied striking her mother but admitted to having a meth pipe in her possession, according to court records.

Goering is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,600 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a pretrial conference March 29 in Dallas County District Court.

Goering was convicted of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance in September 2023 in Dallas County District Court.
