
The Perry High School Drama Department will dramatize Jules Verne’s classic novel, “Around the World in 80 Days,” on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Perry Performing Arts Center. Showtime both nights is 7 p.m.
The action of the play is set in 1872, when the English adventurer Phileas Fogg accepts a bet that he cannot circle the globe in 80 days. Fogg risks his own life and that of his French valet de chamber, Passepartout, in their hectic travels, and his every step is dogged by Detective Fix, who thinks Fogg is a robber on the run.
Strange customs, colorful characters, danger, romance and comic surprises abound in this romp across six continents. Nineteen student actors compose the PHS company including Riley Sergent as Phileas Fogg, Alexa Nelson as Passpartout, Olivia Christensen as love interest Aouda and Maddy Hollingsworth as the dogged Detective Fix.
