
Perry High School hosted the Iowa High School Speech Association District Large Group contests Saturday, with students from 19 Iowa high schools participating, and the PHS team earned I ratings in 10 of the 16 events.
“It was a great opportunity to show off our building and a great deal of work for all the volunteers,” said Perry Community School District Superintendent Lynn Ubben. “Thanks to all who made this event a success!”
PHS student contestants receiving a I rating now advance to the State Large Group Contest to be held Feb. 4 at West Des Moines Valley High School.

Joining the PHS Speech Team from the Iowa High School Speech Association Southwest District were students from Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center (ACGC), Adel-De Soto-Minburn (ADM), Atlantic, Audubon, Boone, Cumberland-Anita-Massena (CAM), Dallas Center-Grimes (DCG), Earlham, Greene County, Madrid, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Panorama, Paton-Churdan, Van Meter, Waukee, West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.
