LAST MEETING – Panorama came away with five turnovers and returned both a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in cruising to a 49-14 victory. Ogden passed for 94 yards and ran for 165 but lost one fumble and threw four interceptions while the Panorama offense passed for 170 yards and ran for 150 yards.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS – Panorama must bounce back from a disappointing 21-7 home loss to Madrid last week. The team has rushed 125 times for 735 yards and 11 touchdowns, with quarterback Luke South 15-of-34 for 153 yards and one TD. He has been intercepted once.
Blaine Barber has seven receptions for 65 yards and Conner Meinecke five snags for 48 yards to pace the aerial attack.
Barber has rushed eight times for 91 yards and has found the end zone three times. A threat to score each time he touches the ball, the senior has returned a punt 56 yards for a TD and a kickoff 80 yards for a score.
Brody Rickheim leads the ground attack with 235 yards and three TDs on 33 carries, with South (32-161, 3 TDs) and Gunnar Grunsted (24-111, 1 TD) the other leading rushers.
Grunsted has 18.5 tackles and Trey Cobb 17 to lead the defense, with each recording three tackles for a loss.
The Panthers have picked off six passes, returning two for TDs. They have also recovered three opposition fumbles.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS – Ogden opened with a 40-32 overtime win at home over Woodward Academy before falling, 48-13, at West Marshall. Van Meter thumped the Bulldogs, 56-6, last week.
Sam Christensen has connected on 42-of-75 passes for 558 yards and five scores, an average of 13.3 per completion. He has been intercepted twice.
Jonah Tew (15-235, 4 TDs) leads the receiving corps, with Grant Palmer (8-128) and Cole Gunderson (8-70) also playing key roles.
Christensen is not afraid to pull the ball down and take off, and leads the rushing assault with 217 yards and four scores on 61 carries. Aaron McCutcheon has carried 33 times for 192. The entire rest of the team has two rushes for 12 yards.
The defense has intercepted three passes and recovered one fumble.
Jacob Kathman is credited with 39 tackles, eight of them for negative yardage, with Charlie Lake marked for 20 stops.
OUTLOOK – Panorama must use the energy of Homecoming while avoiding the distractions that come with the celebration. A win is critical, as Van Meter and an under-the-radar tough South Hamilton team are still on the district schedule. The edge on paper and by scouting reports is all Panthers, but the Bulldogs would love to ruin Panorama’s season and must not be taken lightly.
