With the closure of the Tyson Fresh Meats factory in Perry, workers at some of Perry’s more permanent employers enjoyed a welcome spell of rest and relaxation this week.
The Progressive Foundry Inc. hosted its annual summer block party for some 100 employees and their families on Wednesday.
The youngsters enjoyed a bounce house, games and prizes, and the Parlor ice cream truck and Bett and Bevs provided the food.
The annual event precedes the plant’s week-long shut down for maintenance.
Owned by the VanKirk family of Perry, the Progressive Foundry Inc. has been Perry’s premier manufacturer of cast-iron products for more than 100 years, annually produces hundreds of thousands of cast iron components for applications in municipalities, waterworks, agriculture, heavy industry, automotive and related fields.
