Seniors Caleb Winey, Devon Archer and Haley Vaughn were recognized Tuesday at the MCB Pool for their years of contributions to the swim program in Perry as the Perry Summer Swim Team hosted a short-roster Manning team. The meet was the last Winey and Archer will swim together as the former leaves this week to continue his military training.
Perry won, 471-24, but as the hosts had 48 swimmers in action and Manning just eight the outcome was a foregone conclusion.
Two pool and team records were established in the victory, the first coming when Ethan Winey reset his own standard in the boys 15-18 100 freestyle with a clocking of 58.42 seconds.
He joined Archer, Drew Storey and Caleb Winey for a 1 minute, 50.76 second clocking in the 15-18 200 free relay, lowering the mark created July 7, 2009 by Perry’s Nick Bruce, Brian Fillorio, Kane Seeley and Kaleb Wright.
The PSST will host Glidden Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and will entertain Sac City July 6, also at 6:30 p.m. The Iowa West Swim Conference meet will be held July 15 in Sac City.
