WINTERSET — Perry senior post Janier Puente used his 6-5 frame to bully his way to 28 points Tuesday to lead the Bluejays to an 82-54 throttling of Winterset in their Raccoon River Conference meeting.

Perry (8-6, 6-4) was a 58-46 victor Dec. 20 in the first meeting of the season between the Bluejays and Huskies, but the guests clearly had no intention of leaving anything in doubt in the rematch by racing to a 20-13 lead after one frame and a 36-25 edge at the half.

Puente scored 19 of his 28 in the first half to fuel the Perry attack, with Kyle Nevitt adding five points and Rashon Ivory and Connor Nielsen four apiece.

Winterset (5-11, 4-7) scored 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters, but Perry has 21 in the third to take a 57-39 lead before adding 25 more points in the final eight minutes.

Nevitt finished with 13 points, Ivory with 12 and Nielsen with 11. Five points apiece from Reece Dunlap and Drew Levan, three each from Noah Wilkening and Brandon Kenyon and two from Juma Bushiri completed the Perry scoring list.

Easton Darling hit three 3-pointers en route to a team-best 12 points for the Huskies. Casey Kleemeier had 11 points, Harrison Brockway nine and Justin Henry eight, with Nick Mortoza tallying seven points, Nick Baur five and Carter Tryon two.

Perry hosts Ballard Friday and plays a boys-only junior varsity/varsity set with visiting Ogden Saturday, with the first game to start at 12 p.m.
