The 100+ People for Perry donors club held its 16th session of local giving Monday and pledged $7,400 to the Raccoon River Pet Rescue.

Ground was broken in May on the 5.59-acre pet rescue property on Ivy Place on Perry’s south side. Construction has been steady all summer and is expected to be completed in November.

After four years of giving, the 100+ People for Perry group has pledged $110,700 to 16 local projects.

One Hundred+ People for Perry’s mission is to invest in Perry’s future by supporting current charities, non-profits and other worthy projects that advance the quality of life. According to the donors club guidelines, a charity, non-profit or worthy project that is selected will be ineligible for reconsideration for three consecutive meetings following its selection.

The 100+ People for Perry group makes four large donations each year, and each gift stays 100 percent in the local community. No national charities are be considered. Each recipient must be a 501 (c)(3) or sponsored by a 501 (c)(3), be project based and must benefit the Perry community.

All community members are welcome to attend, and new projects worth considering are always welcome.

The next  100+ People for Perry meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m., with a social hour starting at 6:30 p.m., at the La Post LLC.
