Employees of the Perry branch of the Raccoon Valley Bank recently presented an $1,800 donation to the Dallas County Foundation (DCF).

The bank workers raised the funds through their Jeans for a Cause program, in which they can opt to wear jeans on Fridays in exchange for a small sum that is tallied up at the end of the year and donated.

“Great idea!” said DCF board member Lynn Ubben of Perry. “The Dallas County Foundation gives yearly grants throughout Dallas County so these funds will add to dollars available for grants.”

The DCF just began its 2025 grant cycle, and applications will be accepted through Feb. 3, 2025. All application materials, including an application tutorial, are available on the DCF website.

DCF grants are awarded annually to local non-profit organizations to help fund projects that improve the quality of life in Dallas County. The DCF accepts grant requests in the areas of arts and culture, youth development, education, health and human services, recreation, environment and community betterment.

Since its inception in 2005, the DCF has awarded more nearly $2 million to more than 350 projects in Dallas County, including more than $169,000 in the 2023 cycle. These grant dollars are used to enhance large and small community organizations throughout the county, and the DCF aims to continue funding projects and local initiatives that strengthen our communities now and well into the future.

The Dallas County Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
