Spring rains dampened the start of the 11th annual KidsFest Saturday morning in downtown Perry, with participants huddling under the awnings as the downpour pelted Railroad Street between Willis Avenue and Second Street.
The two-legged and four-legged animals shared the shelter of the petting zoo’s canopy during the cloudburst, waiting for the skies to clear.
The Perry Public Library’s annual family-friendly event will continue until 1:30 p.m. with a variety of age-appropriate activities for children, such as the bubble-burping Foam Blaster, BS Kids STEAM stations, outdoor games, family photos, the dunk tank and a petting zoo.
The Perry Volunteer Fire Department will also serve their trademark meals of hot dogs and pork loin sandwiches for $1.
