A Redfield man was arrested Monday after allegedly brandishing a baseball bat and threatening another Redfield man.

Michael Robert Leichliter, 35, of 14694 State St., Redfield, was charged with second-degree harassment.

The incident began about 12:15 p.m. Monday outside a retail store in the 31300 block of Old Highway 6 in Redfield, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff responded to a report of harassment.

The deputy made contact with the victim, who told the deputy that Leichliter “accused him of stealing his property and trespassing on” Leichliter’s property and then allegedly “struck the side of the victim’s truck and went to his vehicle and retrieved a baseball bat,” according to court records.

The victim told the deputy that Leichliter then allegedly “ran at” him and “stated he was going to beat him up,” according to court records. The victim left the store in his vehicle, and Leichliter allegedly “followed him around town for a while before returning home.”

“This incident was witnessed by multiple individuals,” according to court records.

Leichliter is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 10 in Dallas County District Court.
