A Redfield man was arrested Thursday afternoon after attempting to elude law enforcement by driving a motorcycle on the Raccoon River Valley Trail near Adel but promptly crashing.
Joshua Logan Stanley, 26, of 912 Jefferson St., Redfield, was charged with driving under suspension, no insurance, second-offense eluding, improper registration, operating a non-registered vehicle, failure to maintain control and reckless driving.
The incident began about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, when a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff observed a 2003 Honda motorcycle, driven by Stanley, traveling eastbound out of Adel at a high rate of speed.
The Deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, and a short chase ensued, according to a statement from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. Stanley entered the Raccoon River Valley Trail at Prospect Avenue and “laid the bike onto its side after he lost control,” according to court records.
Stanley “had his foot trapped under the motorcycle,” and he “was placed into handcuffs and taken into custody without further incident,” according to court records.
Stanley was also found to have active warrants out of Polk County for prohibited acts-possession with intent to deliver over 5 grams of methamphetamine, failure to affix an Iowa Drug Tax Stamp and probation violation. There is no bond on these warrants, the sheriff’s statement said.
This investigation is ongoing, and more charges are possible, the statement said.
Stanley is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 19 in Dallas County District Court.
