Kevin Lee Mains, 68, of Redfield was arrested Sunday on charges of willful injury causing bodily injury and first-degree burglary.

A Redfield man was arrested Sunday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a January incident in which he allegedly assaulted a Redfield man in his home.

Kevin Lee Mains, 68, of 1405 Jefferson St., Redfield, was charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and first-degree burglary.

The incident occurred about 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 25 at a residence in the 800 block of Thomas Street in Redfield, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of an assault.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who told the deputies that he “was woken by knocking” and “when he opened the door, he was immediately struck multiple times with an unknown object, causing him to fall back,” according to court records.

The victim told the deputies that he “was struck repeatedly on his head, hands, legs and torso, causing pain and discomfort,” according to court records.

The deputies observed on the victim “a laceration on his forehead, with fresh and dried blood on his face, neck, hands and t-shirt,” according to court records.

The victim identified Mains as the alleged assailant and said two other people were with Mains at the time of the crime, one of whom the victim identified.

The victim told the deputies that “Mains told him, “It will be worse next time,’ before leaving the scene,” according to court records.

A warrant for Mains’ arrest was ordered Jan. 28 in Dallas County District Court and served Feb. 9. Mains is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 19 in Dallas County District Court.
