Richard ‘Dick’ Wagoner of Perry

Richard “Dick” Wagoner of Perry passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 90 years young. A memorial service will be held at a later time to be announced.

Dick grew up in and farmed most of his life in Colfax Township in Dallas County.

He was an active member his entire life in the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren.

Dick also sold Pioneer Seed and worked at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club on the landscaping crew.

He sang in a local quartet who sang for various events and in local churches. He had a beautiful baritone voice.

Dick was a 4-H leader and served on many church committees.

He and his wife, Ruth, served in alternative service, teaching Navajo Indians farming and household skills during two years in the 1950s. This was a very meaningful time for both of them.

His wife of 67 years, Ruth, passed in 2019.

Dick is survived by his son, Richard Kent (Karen) Wagoner of Parma, Idaho, and daughter, Karin Sue (Roy) Wagoner Kliewer of Perry; grandsons Geoffrey (Kristina) Wagoner and their children, Christian and Alice, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Garrett (Brittany) Wagoner of Boise, Idaho, and Robert Kliewer of Perry; and granddaughter, Allisa Kliewer of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Memorials will be given to Panther Creek Church of the Brethren and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
