From an early age, Richard was deeply involved in his family’s farming life—helping raise livestock and contributing to the daily operations. He was also a proud and active member of Webster County 4-H, where he developed leadership skills that stayed with him throughout his life.

After graduating high school, Richard earned a two-year degree from Fort Dodge Community College, where he especially enjoyed playing baseball. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time with his family above all else.

He found joy in cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and loved spending time outdoors fishing, golfing and hunting with family and friends.

He and Diane shared a love of travel and treasured their winters spent in Florida.

Richard began his professional life as an educator at Perry Community High School, where he taught marketing and led the DECA program.

After 10 years in education, he transitioned to a successful 30-year career in banking. He retired as president of Wells Fargo Bank in both Perry and Jefferson, remembered by colleagues and clients alike for his integrity, kindness and unwavering support of others’ success.

Deeply committed to his community, Richard served in leadership roles across numerous local organizations, including the Perry Lions Club, Perry Industries, Perry Economic Development and the Wiese Foundation.
