Roy Bandy, 96, of Indianola and formerly of Perry passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at the Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Roy Lee Bandy was born Feb, 27, 1927, in Perry, Iowa, to Roy Allen and Leah Grace (Rhoads) Bandy.
He graduated from Perry High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Roy worked as a carpenter, building the Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines, and he drove a tank wagon, delivering fuel for many years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Perry, the Otley Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
Roy enjoyed woodworking, making bird houses and squirrel feeders and feeding the squirrels and birds.
In death he rejoins his parents, Roy and Grace Bandy; siblings, Bob Bandy, Rupert Bandy, Marie McCrory and Marjory Johnson; sons, Ronald Bandy and Tracy (Renae) Bandy; grandchildren, Amy, Lori and Richard Bandy and Nathan Bandy.
Left to cherish Roy’s memory are his wife, Norma Jean Hougham; son, Scott (Michelle) Bandy; grandson, Aaron Bandy; and his dog, Mitten.
