Ruth Bathel, 89, of Perry died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 5 from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 4-7 p.m., at the Carris Family Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry. A memorial service in her memory will be held at a later date.

Ruth Marie Bathel was born Nov. 16, 1925, at Ankeny, Iowa, to Pete and Anna (Mullin) Quick.

She graduated from Ankeny High School and then attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.

She was united in marriage to Roy Bathel Oct. 28, 1950.

Ruth worked with Roy as secretary for Quick Oil and was a faithful housewife and mother to her three children.

Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Perry, where she served as pianist and organist for more than 50 years.  She also taught Sunday school and entertained a lot of missionaries and pastors in her home.  Ruth loved travelling and visited both Europe and Greece.

Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Roy W. Bathel; parents, Pete and Anna Quick; and 12 siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Fred (Janice) Bathel of Boone and Dean (Julie) Bathel of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Judy (Jim) Ingram of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Luke (Julie) Bathel, Jennifer (Chad) Gray, Johanna Ingram, Joelle Ingram, Brett Bathel, Mark Bathel and Megan Bathel; great-grandchildren, Charley Bathel, Lilly Bathel, Logan Gray and Evan Gray; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A very special thanks goes to Jim and Nancy Collins who have been great friends for many years.
