Ruth Ruggle, 94, of Perry, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the King’s Garden Campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes.
Ruth was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Conception, Missouri, to Alphonse and Marie (McCann) Ruggle.
In 1943 the family moved to Perry, where Ruth attended St. Patrick Catholic School, graduating in 1948.
After graduation, Ruth worked for her father’s bookkeeping business as a bookkeeper. She worked for 20 years until her health declined in 1968, leaving her unable to work.
Ruth was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and of the Regina Guild.
She enjoyed gardening and had a wonderful garden every year, most of which she gave away to friends and family.
During her time at the nursing home, Ruth always looked forward to bingo night.
Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Helen Ruggle and Clarita Penczek; sister-in-law, Rosemary Ruggle; and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Marie.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church and/or to the Ruggle Scholarship Fund at St. Patrick Catholic School.
