SAYDEL — The Eagles unlimbered their offense Thursday, with the Bluejays the unfortunate recipients of a 10-hit attack that led to a 13-3 five-inning win.

Saydel (3-1) won the baseball battle with Perry (0-3) by answering three Bluejay tallies in the top of the first with a three-spot of their own in their first at-bat. Two Eagle runs in the second and five more in the third created a 10-3 bulge, with three final scores in the fourth setting up a mercy rule victory.

Perry scored when Kato Dougan and Fausto Beato drew walks. An Avery Meister RBI-sacrifice plate Dougan, with Beato scoring on a wild pitch. Rylee Ray was hit by a pitch with two outs, stole second base and scored on a Gavin Hegstrom RBI-base hit.

The burst was the only offensive damage Perry was able to inflict, with Saydel tying the game in their half of the inning and then steadily pulling away.

Fausto added a single, with Hegstrom later reaching on an error, but Perry could not add to their total.

Keghan West threw 3-1/3 innings and Caden Steva two-thirds of a frame. West allowed 11 runs on 10 hits, with Steva surrendering two runs on two hits. The former had one strikeout, five walks and three hit batsmen, with the latter hitting one batter and walking one.

Nick Gudon last one stanza for the hosts, yielding three runs on a hit and three walks. Nathan Jaeger pitched the final four frames, allowing one hit while striking out seven.

Austin Pules had three hits, two runs and four RBIs, with Logan Carney adding two hits, two runs and two RBIs for the hosts. Peyton Swafford scored twice and recorded a pair of hits, with Dakota Ellsworth being hit by a pitch three times and walking once. He scored three times.

Perry is at Winterset Monday, at Carroll Wednesday and at Boone Thursday before returning to Progressive Field to host Ogden June 26.
